Tsuyuhikari is a promising cultivar in the Japanese tea industry. Its name, meaning “dew light,” evokes a sense of promise and good things to come.

Cultivated in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, within the Uji-cha growing region, the tea leaves are meticulously cared for by a younger generation of growers with deep knowledge and dedication. The tea plants are shaded from sunlight for four weeks before harvest, and only first-flush leaves are used.

Flavor Profile

The tea offers bold umami, a rich body, and a creamy mouthfeel, with hints of yellow flowers and a fresh garden breeze. On the confectionery side, it evokes notes of kinako powder, raw pistachios, and butter biscuits.
